When you live in clutter, anxiety is extremely common. For some people, the act of making simple decisions — especially after spending 40+ hours a week making decisions at work — feels overwhelming and can lead to anxious feelings and tendencies. And, one of anxiety’s BFF’s is procrastination. The longer you procrastinate and put off decision-making, the more anxious you feel. What an overwhelming cycle!
That’s why this week’s Sunday Success Story features Julie — a Clutter Boss, a former PRO-crastinator, and an entrepreneur (Julie has a handmade soap business!) who is actively working on decluttering her entire home. Julie’s main living space became cluttered with her soapmaking business, with Amazon boxes piling up and supplies taking up every available surface. When COVID hit and Julie had to work from home for her day job, she felt even more overwhelmed and shameful of the clutter. She couldn’t find a comfortable spot to work.
“Joining Clutter Boss Academy was like a healing balm for my soul to learn that I wasn’t the only one in this situation, to know there are other people out there who are also struggling with this AND making progress and accomplishing their goals. Instead of feeling hopeless and dread when I looked around my house, it started to seem much more do-able. Finally, there was hope.
Decluttering my main living area feels AMAZING!! I decluttered and gave up a storage unit that I paid for, for over 6 years. I don’t miss one single thing that was tossed. My anxiety is completely gone. I love living (and working!) in my home and I feel peaceful when I wake up in the morning, walk into my living room and it is still neat as a pin. It’s so much easier to keep my house clean now that I have more space.”
Julie, we are SO proud of your decluttering accomplishments! You are truly an inspiration to the Clutter Boss community.
Remember, YOU deserve to live and work in a peaceful space. YOU deserve to overcome procrastination and make decisions that impact your life, no matter how big or small.
