With so many options for decluttering programs and systems out there, it’s important to try new things to figure out what works best for you!
That’s why this week’s Sunday Success Story features Ellen, a Clutter Boss who has taken on her own version of the Project 333 challenge!
The concept of Project 333 is to select 33 pieces of clothing to wear for 3 months. When a water leak in her home forced Ellen and her family to move out of the house for six weeks, Ellen packed just enough clothes for that time period and discovered that she wore the pieces she loved over and over again. That was the first clue that she could live without a full closet of clothes.
This inspired Ellen to slowly get rid of clothing that didn't fit anymore, was out of style, or stained.
“These little victories prompted me to start my own version of Project 333, which I call Project 503 (because I kept 50 pieces of clothing) in January 2021. I packed all my other clothing away in a large bin and shoved it in a corner of my closet.
The Clutter Boss Academy Community is amazing! While many aspects have helped me on this journey, what helps me the most is the well-organized website with playback videos of the coaching calls. I listen to these calls often while I am cooking, cleaning, or walking. The videos have given me inspiration to really dig deep and look at what I need and use. And it is great to be in a supportive community where we all are going through many of the same victories and sometimes struggles. It really has been a lifesaver to my sanity.
Now, my closet can breathe! I just curated my next quarter of clothing for April, May, and June. It was so much fun to see these clothes again. Not only do I love ‘shopping’ my closet, but I also love not having the negative judgment associated with clothing that I wasn't wearing — ‘I'll wear that when I lose 10 pounds,’ or ‘I better keep that because my MIL gave it to me.’ Now I see the clothes that fit me right now that I love. This process is the beginning of self-care that I have long pushed to the side. Realizing that these little victories add up has been so great. Looking forward to the continued journey!”
Ellen, we look forward to your continued decluttering journey as well!
